On March 11th, 2006 My husband (boyfriend then) and I took a trip to Caladesi Island in Clearwater Florida. What I thought was a normal trip to the beach became one of the most memorable days of my life. We spent some time writing in the sand to which I cheekily wrote “I love J”. After getting my towel to wipe the sand off my hands, I turned to see next to my loving message was written “Marry me?”
I am telling my proposal story because I thought this romantic idea could be used in a Disney setting. Walt Disney World has plenty of resorts that have beautiful sandy beaches where you could use this idea. Below is a list of those resorts.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort – This is a perfect place to propose if you would love to have the iconic Cinderella’s castle in the background or to just have a Hawaiian theme. They also have a wonderful dinner show, Disney’s Spirit of Aloha. Very romantic!
Disney’s Contemporary Resort & Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort – Not only is this the most recognizable Disney resort but the location of the beach has a wonderful view of mother nature herself. This is also the location of Disney’s most popular and romantic restaurant, California Grill.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – This is a beautiful Victorian theme resort that “evokes Palm Beach’s golden era.” They also offer sailboat rentals and house the most desirable dining on property, Narcoossee’s.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – Love the great outdoors? This resort is a great spot for those who love to camp or hike in the mountains . The beach sits on a beautiful lake with no hint of the city life. They offer bike and sailboat rentals.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort – You love the beach so why not do a beach theme? The best thing about proposing at this resort is you have the beautiful Disney’s Boardwalk Resort in the background. They offer boat rentals and have a wonderful restaurant, Yachtman Steakhouse.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort – A perfect location for seclusion and privacy (if that is what you are looking for) with the wonderful backdrop of mother nature. They also have horseback riding and wagon and carriage rides, not to mention Walt Disney’s most popular entertainment dining experience, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.
*Remember, with whatever you decide to do, you can always call Walt Disney World with any questions or help you may need. They are usually more than accommodating and love to create memories!
